The trial of the Costa Concordia captain responsible for the incident involving the liner running aground off the coast of Italy last year has resumed today following delays caused by an earlier lawyer strike.
The Costa Concordia cruise ship, which still remains off the coast Giglio, capsized after hitting a rock, causing the death of 32 people.
Captain Francesco Schettino faces charges of multiple manslaughter, causing environmental damage and abandoning ship before all 4,000 passengers were safely rescued.
While the trial continues around 500 workers and 30 vessels are working around the clock to remove the wreckage which is reportedly getting crushed under its own weight where it has sat since the incident.
